What is electrophoretic plating?

Electrophoretic plating is a process where a metal part or component is immersed in a water-based solution and an electrical current is passed through the bath for coating the part. This method of plating ensures a uniform coating to the whole surface so is connonly used on irregular shaped or complex components.

The nature of the process means the thickness of the plating can be finely controlled and measured giving an even, corrosive resistant finish.

Our electrophoretic plating capabilities

The electrophoretic plating process usually incorporates either a clear electrophoretic lacquer onto a nickel plated component or a post dye colour then lacquer. Our standard colours are light gold and dark gold.

Specifications up to BS EN 12540:200 SC4 are carried out on our fully automated rack plating plant.

The plant’s advanced intelligent sequencing system allows several different process routes to be controlled simultaneously for example bright chrome, satin chrome, bright nickel or satin nickel.
